Cooking with the Curator
Hannah Sprague Dodge directed Slater Memorial Museum from 1926-1963. Along with her husband, famous artist & printmaker, Ozias Dodge (3rd Director of the Norwich Art School), Hannah successfully solicited Colonel Charles A. Converse to contribute the funds to build the 1906 Converse Gallery addition. With her detailed management and unwavering obligation to improve the museum and to make it pertinent to young people, Hannah Dodge grew the Slater collections exponentially with acquisitions of both global ethnographic objects, as well as local pieces with direct ties to Norwich’s own history. It is with Hannah Dodge’s meticulous oversight that the Slater Memorial Museum is the institution it is today.
All recipes are executed exactly how they are recorded in Hannah Dodge's cookbook (with little or no additional research done to supplement missing or unclear information).
