When one joins our membership program, you become a Friend of Slater Museum! Our dedicated group of Friends allows the museum to carry out its mission of serving NFA and its community – when you become a Friend of Slater Museum, you are entitled to the following benefits:

 

Your participation makes a difference. Whether you’re renewing your membership or joining for the first time, when you become a Friend of Slater Museum, you’ll be supporting the museum in more ways than ever before. All income made from the museum from sales, admissions, and memberships helps support the museum’s mission through the following ways:

 

Acquisition and Expansion: The museum’s collection is supported through the acquisition of art and artifacts that promote its core mission. Landmark acquisitions have been made possible by funds raised by the Friends of Slater Museum including works by John Denison Crocker, Ellis Ruley, Bela Pratt, and more.

 

Collections Care: Slater Museum adheres to best practices of collections stewardship through the employment of conservation experts to repair damaged works and prevent further deterioration. Recent conservation supported by the Friends includes The Cobb Boys and John Denison Crocker’s Hunters.

 

Programming Support: the Friends of Slater Museum further support our programming efforts which allow us to purchase art supplies and necessary museum materials to create dynamic programming for thousands of NFA and regional students who visit our museum regularly.

 

Exhibitions: Many exhibition openings including our annual Connecticut Artists Juried Exhibition are supported by the Friends of Slater Museum. Everything from reception costs, refreshments, and more are supported by funds from the Friends of Slater Museum.
