Slater Memorial Museum seeks an intern (unpaid) to digitize object files and donor information under the supervision of the Director, Vivian Zoë.
Responsibilities
The museum has been collecting for 125 years. Throughout most of that time, object files were entirely kept in paper form. The intern will work to digitize object files, write abstracts, and record all information into the Museum database system in order to aid future research.
Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel and Word). Experience with PastPerfect collection management software a plus
- Experience using a flatbed scanner and performing basic imaging processing
- Familiarity with primary sources and experience working with and researching in archives and objects collections
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently after initial training
